Here's what REIC has done for us!
The Real Estate Investment Club was the best club that I was involved with during my time at MSU. During my years of involvement I gained so much knowledge about this unique segment of the industry and it was relevant information that I was not obtaining in my classes. The club gives members many opportunities to travel and attend different conferences. The conferences that I attended were so crucial to my success as a student. At the conferences I had the unique opportunity of meeting and networking with industry professionals, securing internships and most importantly securing a full time job before graduating. These conferences gave me the confidence and skill set to talk to people in a setting such as this. My best experience and memory with the club was when I was involved in the first ever Hotel Shark Tank competition at the NATHIC Conference. My team of several club members had to come up with a new hotel brand and present it to a room of 200+ professionals, and 5 "Sharks". A lot of time, research and preparation went into the project which really prepared me for my job.
Overall the real estate investment club is a great organization for students to get involved with. During my time I created wonderful relationships with students, professors, alumni and industry professionals. Truth is... without REIC I would not have gained valuable skills sets, the confidence to speak to industry professionals and the experience of leading this wonderful and hard working group. -Nevena Divic '14

I joined REIC last January and I can't be more thankful that I did! We had the opportunity to go to Chicago and meet some of the top executives at CBRE and Jones Lang Lasalle. A month later, I was able to speak with them and many other alumni again at a lunch-in. When April came around and I needed an internship to work around my 6 week study abroad, a Senior VP from Chicago set me up a job in Ann Arbor with a friend doing hotel appraisals. I love the job, have made great connections, and couldn't be happier! -Alyssa Simpson '13
The RE Specialization has offered me more opportunities than I could ever have imagined! I have met the most influential people in the industry, gone to the most amazing destinations for conferences, and have learned first hand how deals can be brokered! I am so glad that I made the decision to pursue this industry. -Meghan Clark '13
The Real Estate Investment Club has been one the most valuable experiences I have had during my time here at MSU. Since joining REIC, I have been able to attend numerous conferences and site tours. These provided beneficial networking opportunities for our students and helped me to expand my professional network. Aside from the conference and site tours, the club meetings provided me with valuable learning opportunities for things that are not necessarily taught in the classroom. Some of the best friends I have made have been a part of REIC and I am sure these connections will pay off in the long run. I would highly encourage you to join the Real Estate Investment Club, it is a great investment in your future. -Paul Finstad '13
Joining REIC has been one of the best decisions I've made in college! As an interior design major, I didn't have a lot of help or vision for my career path until I added the RE specialization and got involved with REIC. Now, I have a great network of professional contacts from all aspects of the real estate industry who have helped me mold my own future! I am so grateful for the benefits and opportunities that REIC has offered me. Who else gets to go to Chicago, Miami, and Los Angeles expense-paid while building my resume, personal knowledge, and professional base? I would tell any student from every major to check us out, because you never know where you may end up! -Olivia Kobayashi '13
As a former President of the REIC, I highly encourage any students interested in real estate (specifically within the hotel industry) to take the initiative to be actively involved in the club. Leadership in a student organization will not only stand out on your resume, it will also open the doors for networking opportunities such as attendance at major industry conferences such as ALIS (America's Lodging Investment Summit). These are the opportunities I found to be most valuable in my job search. It is a rare experience to get face-to-face interaction with MSU alumni and other leaders in this specialized niche of the hospitality industry. Please do yourself a favor and take advantage of every opportunity available to you. This will not only benefit your career development, but will also further the exposure of THE School within this growing sector of the industry. -Garrett Ross '11
